ItDR Questionnaire 2023 Results
The ItDR Questionnaire was running for about two months, and I think it is time to collect the results.
And first of all, I need to thank everyone who took part in completing the questionnaire. Your input is very important and will certainly help with the further development of the game!
Now, let's go over the summary of answers.

Statistics ↩
The first part of the Questionnaire was focused on getting to know people who play the game, how long and in what way they play it.
Not surprisingly, the overwhelming stream of discovery comes from Discord and Itch.
Most people who partook in questionnaire either play since the v1.x (2019-2020), or started playing with the current v2.2 (2023). Hope this trend will continue!
The majority of the people did find the rules easy to grasp, which is certainly good.
Most groups keep playing with established characters in either one-shots and short modules, or continuous campaigns.
While doing so, their characters usually reach 3rd level.
While enjoying the process of doing it, it seems!
Feedback ↩
The second part of the Questionnaire was aimed at getting the feedback and ideas for the future development of ItDR. Here, I will try to summarize the most commonly brought up points.
The most engaging and enjoyable aspects of the game that were mentioned:
- simple and quick character creation that also offers customization
- lightweight nature and modularity of the ruleset
- the combat mechanics
On the other hand, HP mechanics, ganging-up rule, and magic system presented a bit challenge to some. I already work on improving the wording of these aspects in the upcoming v2.3. Any suggestions are welcome.
Most importantly, here is what the people want to be added to the game:
- "class-ic" three classes from v1.x
- setting information
- alternative magic systems
- Referee guides for designing and running a dungeon
- more hexcrawling
- adventure and dungeon generation
- more magic items (including random generation) and traps
- more guns
For these points, I'm happy to say, many will be implemented in the future, and some of them are currently in development as new supplements.
Once again, thanks to everyone who participated in the questionnaire and stay tuned for the future updates!
