Cave of the Spiders (by Skip Williams)1 was one of the adventures that were used to playtest Into the Dungeon: Revived.

The Lair

Floors

Due to a rugged nature of natural stone floors, the movement is halved, running is impossible, and any Save that relies on steady footing will be done at a Disadvantage.

Plank Floors

4 inch thick wood. 8hp, Armour 5.

Ladders

2 inch thick wood. 4hp, Armour 4.

Web Trap

Characters approaching without a light, will be entangled in the web until a successful STR or DEX Save. The web has 6hp, Armour 2, non-bladed attacks against it are Impaired, and fire-based attacks are Enhanced.

Anyone falling from Area 4 takes d8 Damage. On 8 Damage, the platform breaks, dropping the character to Area 6 for an extra d8 Damage.

5a. Battacks

Guards sleep in armour, but need at least 1 turn to grab their weapons, if disturbed. If awakened by the guard at Area 5, will arrive in d4 turns.

Prisoners

One prisoner is a wealthy merchant that will pay the characters 20g if rescued.

Two are sleeping, while the other two keep watch.

9. Mettik's Chamber

Mettik

STR 8, DEX 18, WIL 20, 9hp, Armour 2 (natural+ring), d6 Venomous Bite, climbs walls at half-speed.

Venomous Bite: If the bite reduces STR score, the target suffers d4 DEX Loss as well.

Spider Web: a target must pass a DEX Save or be Restrained until a successful STR or DEX Save.

Change Shape: can change its appearance from the natural form of a large spider, to that of a humanoid. In humanoid shape, can wield weapons, but cannot use Bite, Spider Web, and climbing. Can cast spells in either shape.

Aranea Spells (all considered signature):
C: acid splash, daze, detect magic, ghost sound, light/douse.
1: magic missile, shield, sleep.

Spell Tome (^ - signature spell, * - prepared spell):
C: flare, magic hand, ray of frost
1: cause fear, camouflage, charm person^, feather fall*, shocking grasp*, swarm
2: acid arrow^, resist element
3: displacement*, suggestion^

- Ring of Armour (Armour +1, up to 3)
- Wand of Scorching Ray [charge 4]
- d4 Health Potions (restore d6 STR Loss)

Aranea

DEX 15, WIL 14, 5hp, Armour 1 (natural), d6 Venomous Bite, climbs walls at half-speed.

Venomous Bite: If the bite reduces STR score, the target suffers d4 DEX Loss as well.

Grapple: when attacked with Claws, the target must pass a DEX Save or be grappled. The Bite attack on the grappled target is Enhanced.

Spider Web: a target must pass a DEX Save or be Restrained until a successful STR or DEX Save.

Giant Spider

STR 14, DEX 16, WIL 4, 4hp, d6 Bite. If the bite reduces STR score, the target suffers d4 DEX Loss from venom.
